The SilMan Sales Team

A complete team of in-house professionals to support sales efforts, including:

  • Engineering: Collaborate with our estimating, design, and applications team to develop winning proposals.
  • Marketing: Marketing to build focused content and campaigns.
  • Project Management: Project managers are closely involved in final closing to ensure efficient hand-off and execution.

As the Senior Applications Engineer, you will expand on SilMan’s success by identifying opportunities and preparing winning proposals for projects like these: Multi-site improvements for OnTrac’s West Coast network, including System Expansion in Buckeye, Ariz., and a new system in Vancouver, Wash.; National program for leading Automated Singulation Solution; Pack-out system for ThredUP; Shipping system for Levi Strauss.

Service Area and Residence

The Senior Applications Engineer is a remote opportunity reporting to our Tupelo, Mississippi office. Some travel will be required for this role, including but not limited to project site surveys, installation site visits, and potential factory training. Travel is subject to approval by the Team Leader.

What does the Senior Application Engineer do?

As the Senior Application Engineer for SilMan Industries, you will create innovative and functional material handling solutions by producing technical designs and providing engineering support.

These applications relate to conveyor systems, storage systems, and robotic solutions, as well as value-added services such as controls and electrical-mechanical installation to integrate these solutions.

Your knowledge of process and material flow, as well as business information and data, is essential for success in this role.

Furthermore, you play a key role in facilitating technical communication between the SilMan engineering team, vendors, and clients.

Here are a few of the responsibilities of the Senior Application Engineer

As a vital member of the Applications Engineering Team, you will effectively execute tasks such as:

  • Develop functional concepts and designs for our client's applications, utilizing material handling-related equipment and controls.
  • Create detailed fabrication and assembly drawings
  • Create detailed bills of materials to support the Sales Group
  • Work with SilMan supplier partners and subcontractors to compile project budgets and estimates
    • Material Handling Automation design within the sales division
    • Skilled in performing site surveys and developing material handling system design solutions for fulfillment, distribution centers, parcel centers, etc.
    • Excellent communication skills with strong customer-facing skills
    • Proficient in AutoCAD
    • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite
    • Skilled in BOM creation
    • Sales proposal creation expertise
    • Project Management skillset

This position requires a minimum of 15 years of experience within the material handling integration industry.

  • Material Handling Automation design within the sales division
  • Skilled in performing site surveys and developing material handling system design solutions for fulfillment, distribution centers, parcel centers, etc.

Compensation

SilMan’s compensation packages are carefully tailored to each candidate’s experience, geographic location, and current market considerations. Our competitive base salary ranges are researched and benchmarked against peer companies at a similar growth stage.

The anticipated compensation package includes:

  • Competitive Base Salary
  • Discretionary Annual Bonus

Office Location: Remote Opportunity. Engineering Headquarters in Tupelo, MS.

Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

In addition to understanding the safety and operational norms of industrial settings, the Senior Application Engineer operates in a professional office environment and routinely utilizes standard office equipment, including computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Travel is required for this role, subject to the Team Leader’s approval.
