SilMan Civil Team Deploys for Park Project
In October 2017 SilMan Industries wrapped up a concrete construction for public works project: a new Veteran’s Memorial Park for Union City in the Bay Area of Northern California.
Pride in our military runs high at SilMan, so this project has always held a special place in our hearts.
As Memorial Day approaches, we thought that this was a good time to share this stirring remembrance of our heroes.
Below Ground Electrical and Up
The scope of work for this unique public works project required a variety of our specialized Construction Division team members.
The fundamental layers of the project were completed by SilMan’s civil team: demolition and grubbing, as well as grading and erosion control.
Concrete work included the entire footprint of the memorial, a seat wall, and the pad for the monument itself. Furthermore, the memorial features a brick memorial where members of the public may show their support with a personal dedication inscribed upon individual bricks.
Lighting for the entire area was installed, and required the installation of a local power supply.
Finishing touches feature precast concrete signage, final landscaping, and sod.
About Union City Veterans Memorial Park
The story of the park has been chronicled by the city’s County Supervisor Richard Valle of District 2 in Alameda County.
The opening was also covered by the East Bay Times.
