Daifuku Enlists SilMan at Navy Medical Center, San Diego

AGV project deepens SilMan’s hospital/medical specialization
San Leandro, Calif.: Daifuku America Corporation (“DAC”) has contracted SilMan Industries for their support to replace the automated guided vehicle (AGV”) system for the Navy Medical Center in San Diego (“NMCSD”). DAC was awarded a contract to replace NMCSD’s aging AGV operations.
SilMan Industries will be responsible for installing the electrical infrastructure for the updated AGV system. Scope for the project includes charging room, charging stations, and accompanying servers, HMI interface screens, sensors and control panels.
Medical Industries
“Our growing portfolio in medical services, products and facilities has created a new specialization for our team,” said Tom Mangin, co-founder and CEO at SilMan Industries. “In light of the expected growth in the medical sector, this expanded in-house skillset offers tremendous growth potential to SilMan,” he continued.
All three divisions at SilMan – Construction, Material Handling and Site Services – have a portfolio serving the medical community. The company’s Site Services team has been deployed to the NMCSD project. However, it is their experience working with their Material Handling teammates on manufacturing and warehouse automation projects that allows them to bring unique value to this undertaking.
