SilMan Honored with NECA Project Excellence Award
NorCal NECA recognizes Electrical Team for project with Treasury Wine Estates
San Leandro, Calif.: The Northern California Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), presented SilMan Construction with the 2018 “Project Excellence Award.” The honor reflects their superior work at Treasury Wine Estates (TWE) Sonoma Plant. The award was presented at NECA’s Fall General Member Meeting, on September 11, 2018.

Scott Harding received the NECA Project Excellence Award on behalf of SilMan.
Scott Harding, who directs the safety program for SilMan, accepted the award on behalf of the firm (pictured). “I am receiving this award on behalf of SilMan, but the honor is shared by the amazing electrical team at TWE,” said Harding. “And, of course, our partners at Barry-Wehmiller Design Group (“BWDG”) and TWE plant representatives.” Harding is an active NorCal NECA/IBEW Safety Committee member. “We always give our client our best effort to be an authentic collaborator” Harding added. “Nonetheless, it is gratifying to receive this recognition of our values.”
The NECA Project Excellence Award
Nominated projects are selected for the annual award by the NECA/IBEW judging committee. Criteria considered in the process includes: meeting or exceeding expectations in quality, schedule, code compliance, safety, minimal change orders and punch lists, maintaining great relationships, and overall client satisfaction. In regard to safety excellence, there was no lost time or recordable incidents on this project.
The project is known as the “TWE Sonoma – Bottling Line Consolidation Project, Electrical Demolition and Installation.” The undertaking involved the demolition, relocation, and installation of three bottling lines from TWE’s Napa plant to their new facility in Sonoma. The project was not without drama; at one point the 2017 “Nuns Fire” was less than a 1/4 mile from the facility, which produced delays and event threatened the new plant.
BWDG engineered and managed the project along with SilMan’s electrical team, of which the electrical contract was valued at approximately $2.6M.
