In Support of Essential Services:

COVID-19 Job Site Response Plan

Internal Pandemic Plan Offered to All

Industrial Safety in the Era of COVID-19

stop covid19

All companies working with essential services are experiencing a situation which challenges every aspect of  normal operations.

In particular, those of us serving public works and industrial sectors, we are facing completely uncharted territory in regard to safety. Despite decades of executing effective safety practices, our most deadly risk factor is no longer falling, tripping or electicution: it is an airborne virus.

SilMan has a deep tradition of maintaining the highest levels of awareness and precaution for our teams in the field.

And with this background, our safety team has developed a safety plan specifically for this time.

Too Important to keep it to ourselves

In keeping with the spirited public sharing we have seen all around us, SilMan is making this document available to anyone who wishes to review or replicate.

We have also offered a video of Tom Mangin speaking to the team via web earlier this month, as the team began to address the effects of “shelter at home” orders, and supporting our team in the field.

Excerpt of COVID-19 Jobsite Plan

Title: COVID Exposure Control & Response Plan

Purpose and Scope

The purpose of this plan is to provide current information to our team and outline the steps that SilMan and our partners can take to reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19. The plan describes how to prevent worker exposure to coronavirus, protective measures to be taken on the jobsite, personal protective equipment and work practice controls to be used, cleaning and disinfecting procedures, and what to do if a worker becomes sick or infected.

The scope of this plan covers all field and office operations on a daily basis, during this global crisis. The scope of this plan will cease as soon as the government (both Federal and State agencies) have lowered the coronavirus spread risk to a controllable level and lifted the ‘shelter- in-place’ mandates across the country and we are able to return to our normal workplaces.

COVID-19 Control Statement

SilMan takes the health and safety of our Team members very seriously. With the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) a respiratory disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, we all must remain vigilant to mitigate the outbreak. This is particularly true for the construction industry, which (in part) has been deemed “essential” during this recently declared National Emergency. In order to stay heathy and maintain operations, we have developed this COVID-19 Exposure Control and Response Plan to be implemented on all of our worksites. We have identified key team members to monitor current information and guidance from the ‘government’ [i.e. Trump Administration, US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the World Health Organization (WHO), and/or State Health Departments and your local county/city public agencies].

NOTE: This plan is only based on the most current and available information from the government and is subject to change as new information is provided. Based on governmental changes and/or potential impacts to our operations, SilMan may also amend this plan at any time.
