Jim Beam Signs SilMan Industries for New Construction

Agreement with Jim Beam will create new security facility for the distiller

San Leandro, Calif.: SilMan Industries has contracted with Kentucky Bourbon legend Jim Beam to construct a new security facility at Beam’s Clermont, Ky. headquarters. The new structure includes administrative and training facilities, and will revitalize the company’s security operations. The project is managed from SilMan’s Bardstown, Ky. office. Expected completion date is September 2019.

According to Todd Sadler, project manager for SilMan, this collaboration reflects the maturation of the relationship between the two companies.  “Our Site Services team has been working with the company on a regular basis for the past year,” Sadler said. “There is a lot of common ground in our company cultures, as well as a match between needs and capabilities.”

Key individuals on the project are Cooper Russell (project engineer) and Cathy Reynolds (project manager) for Beam; and Garrett King (engineer) and Farley Young (site supervisor) for SilMan.

About the project

The scope of new construction consists of project management, design, site civil, building foundation, fuel tank pad, guard rail, structural steel and interior finishes.  Additional services include demolition of existing structure and masonry.  The project was initiated in May 2019, and is valued at nearly $.5M.

Jim Beam, properly known as Beam Suntory, is a subsidiary of Suntory Holdings in Osaka, Japan.  Despite its leading role in local tourism, Jim Beam’s flagship property in Clermont is a thriving hub of business activity. The constant drumbeat of trucks and manpower in support of distillery operations has increased demands on security services, and created the necessity for the new security headquarters.

SilMan Industries has a national reputation for working with beverage makers. All three SilMan divisions have been engaged with companies such as Brown-Forman, HP Hood, and Constellation, providing material handling and manufacturing systems, equipment installation and service, and infrastructure projects.
